Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 16, 2026

Schrute Labs LLC ("we", "us", "our") operates Vienna, a desktop application and supporting web services. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.

Usage data. We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics such as app launches and feature usage to improve the product. No personally identifiable information is included.

Feedback. If you submit feedback through the app, we store your name, email, and message so we can respond.

API keys. Vienna uses a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) model. API keys you provide are stored locally on your device using OS-level encrypted storage (e.g., macOS Keychain) and are never transmitted to our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Vienna service
  • To authenticate you and secure your account
  • To respond to feedback and support requests
  • To improve the product through aggregated, anonymized analytics

3. Data Storage and Security

Account data is stored in a secured database. We use bcrypt password hashing, rate limiting, and account lockout protections. Session tokens are managed via signed JWTs. All connections use HTTPS.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except as required by law or to protect our legal rights.

5. Third-Party Services

Vienna connects to third-party AI providers (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) using API keys you provide directly. Your interactions with those services are governed by their respective privacy policies. We do not intermediate or store those communications.

6. Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time

8. Children's Privacy

Vienna is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of Vienna after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
